Quick Encounters

by Madi Stephens - University of Houston

February 13, 2019

Last semester, I met a student named Anna on campus, we talked for a few minutes and I invited her to free lunch at the BSM. This conversation was a quick encounter and after it happened, I did not give it another thought.
To my surprise, at the first free lunch this semester, she came walking into the BSM looking for me. As we ate lunch together, we talked about her parents who are Pakistani and her beliefs as a Muslim. She is currently taking an ancient medicine class with assigned reading from Psalm 22 which foretells Jesus' death on the cross. We talked through the gospel and the beauty of Jesus' sacrifice. I may have thought meeting her was a quick BSM plug that would go no further, but God had greater plans.

  • Praise God for using every seemingly little moment in our days to bring us closer to Him.
  • Pray for Anna, that her heart would soften and hear the Lord. Pray that she would continue to ask questions and our friendship would grow.
  • Pray for students like Anna who have questions about religion and the Bible. Pray that God would send believers to them ready to share the Good News.

Pausing and Praying with you,
